Trinity Episcopal Church, Rocky Mount, Virginia, is a historical parish serving the spiritual needs of Episcopalians in our area for over 170 years. The parish is Eucharist-centered and utilizes the liturgical resources of the Book of Common Prayer, 1979 and the 1982 Hymnal of the Episcopal Church.
Trinity is a parish of the Diocese of Southwest Virginia. We are a small town church blessed with local folk as well as Episcopalians from all parts of the country. Nearby Smith Mountain Lake is a favored retirement area and brings to the parish a variety of folk from many walks of life – associated with government, military, industry, business the professions and education. Lay involvement in parish life is strong and we have committed outreach programs, book studies, bluegrass concerts to celebrate our heritage and a range of other social and educational programs. A major resource is our excellent choir, large for a small church, and under the able leadership of Jerry Blankenship.
The parish is “broad-church” in liturgical style, utilizing Rite II for the
Eucharist. All baptized persons wishing to receive communion are
welcome at our altar. We are an inclusive parish, stressing the
unconditional love of God through Jesus Christ for all of humanity.
We are welcoming, open and warm.
As a congregation, we are dedicated to serving those in need. We do this through a variety of ways. We began the “Wood for Warmth” program in the county, which provides firewood free of charge for anyone who needs it. Trinity volunteers work and serve in our community soup kitchen and we reach out across the world through Kiva, providing financial resources to help people in developing countries.
If you are visiting the area, or looking for a permanent church home, please join us for worship and fellowship. Weekly services are Sundays at 10:30 AM.
